Gm. The future of web3 security is here.

Our team has been hard at work behind the scenes on our official Wallet Guard 2.0 release, which we are excited to finally announce! We have been teasing some of this functionality to our community, and we firmly believe this is the future of security in web3.

Right now, every feature inside Wallet Guard is free. This will not be the case forever, but we would love for you to check it out if you are interested in improving your web3 security. https://walletguard.app

Here’s the full release notes of everything new.

Multi-layered Defense

Layer 1 — Proactive Phishing Protection

Layer 1 — Proactive phishing protection

Layer 2 — Transaction Simulation & Analysis

Layer 2 — Transaction Simulation

Types of scams we detect

Our new APIs allow us to provide you with powerful insights into every website and transaction you do. Scammers often follow patterns, which is why we alert you when we spot suspicious activity such as:

  • Set Approval for All permissions (OpenSea, Blur, Uniswap, and other marketplaces are the only websites that should be asking for this)
  • Wallet drainers
  • Recently Created Websites
  • Impersonation/phishing attempts
  • Malicious extensions being loaded onto your browser
  • …and much more

How to update

For new users, Wallet Guard 2.0 is signified by v0.7.0 and above on the Chrome Store.

Wallet Guard 2.0 Release

For existing users, you’re going to receive a popup letting you know Wallet Guard is temporarily disabled. You’ll need to click Accept Permissions to continue using Wallet Guard.

Chrome sends an Error when an extension is temporarily disabled

This is because the new feature set (specifically transaction simulation) requires additional permissions to enable the functionality. This is a security feature the Chrome Store puts in place to prevent extensions from updating to new permission sets. We have always only operated with the minimum number of permissions for our extension to function, and we’re going open-source to back that up.

Open Sourcing

We believe in transparency when it comes to the security infrastructure we are building, which is why we have made our browser extension repository open-source. We can make all the claims in the world, but we encourage our users to audit and verify for themselves that Wallet Guard works the way we claim it does.

Machine Learning

We have spent a lot of time manually analyzing trends and patterns among scam sites, which has lead to the creation of our first iteration of machine learning algorithms. These will take plenty more work to train and refine, but you can expect to see up to 50% less false positives right from the start.

As we mentioned, scammers follow patterns which is why we have many more machine-learning based features and heuristics planned in our roadmap for this year. Stay tuned for updates on this.

Our Mission

The browser is the operating system of web3. That’s why we believe it’s critically important to provide infrastructure that can help protect your assets.

Security has become a glaring hurdle to web3 adoption, which is why at Wallet Guard we are passionate about our mission to make security easily accessible for everyone. — @themindofmar, Co-Founder at Wallet Guard
